The first issue of Nowy Dziennik [Polish Daily News] appeared on 27 February 1971. It cost 15 cents, numbered 12 pages, and was published in black and white. Today the paper is printed in color and every edition numbers dozens of pages. „Przegl”d Polski” [The Polish Review] and a weekend edition are in- serted weekly, and advertisers are numerous. Nowy Dziennik is the most influ- ential and respected Polish-language newspaper in the United States, with a circulation of 30,000. It is read throughout the east coast and elsewhere and is Polonia's paper of record.
