A dozen years ago, when surveying material for a sociological text on Ameri- can racism, I found little research about recent white racist groups. Since then social scientists have been addressing that situation, realizing that a significant part of understanding contemporary racism must be a hard look at those groups. These two books are worthy contributions to that effort.
